Frequently Asked Questions:

Hair Straightener Operating Advice

  • First shampoo and condition hair, then gently towel dry and apply a thermal protection spray and a styling product such as a straightening balm (for recommendations on the correct products for your hair type, please speak with your Hairdresser). Blow dry your hair using a round barrel brush to encourage straightness until it is at least 80% dry.
  • The hair styler will take approximately 25 seconds to reach the maximum operating temperature of 210ºC. When operating temperature is reached, the red LED will begin to flicker. This indicates the micro-processor is correctly regulating your chosen temperature.
  • For straightening hair, take 2 inch (5cm) sections of hair and glide your DIOSA hair stylers smoothly down from the root to the ends (do not hold the straighteners for more than 2 seconds in any one place). Start at the back and work to the front, also start each section as close to the root as possible. Perhaps experiment by curling the ends of your hair in slightly.
  • For adding volume, try lowering the temperature to 150-180 ºC, then take 2 inch sections and this time lift and rotate slightly, moving a little more slowly from roots to ends.
  • For creating curls, clamp at the root and slowly rotate as you pull the hair through (creating curls may take a little practice, experimentation and patience!).
  • Once you have finished styling, please remember to both switch the hair stylers off and also unplug from the electrical supply. Then leave on a heat resistant mat to cool down.
  • Should your device need cleaning, please use a slightly damp cloth with no detergents and then wipe dry. Only do this when the device is unplugged and cold. This should be sufficient to remove any accumulation of styling products that might appear on the plates.

Using DIOSA Stylers in the UK & Europe

DIOSA electrical devices are designed for use on 200/240 voltages. They are fitted with both a standard two-pin European plug and a UK three-pin adaptor plug. The special 'Europlug' is secured in place by a single screw between the pins. To remove the UK plug for use throughout Europe (for example when on holiday), simply loosen the securing screw and slide off to reveal the European two-pin standard plug.

Hair Straightener Safety Advice

  1. Always remember that hair straighteners are an electrical device and the plates reach very high temperatures up to 210ºC (410ºF).
  2. Do not allow the hot plates to touch textiles, plastics or heat sensitive surfaces (including skin!). Also make sure the plates do not come into contact with the electrical cord.
  3. Do not use the electrical appliance near water or in a damp atmosphere (such as bathrooms). Electrical devices must never come into contact with liquids.
  4. Only use on hair that is at least 80% dry. Our advice is to blow dry hair first before using your hair styling straightener.
  5. Never leave the device plugged in at the electrical socket after use, even if the iron is switched off as the electrical current still reaches device.
  6. Always allow the plates of the hair styler to cool before touching them or storing the device away after use (the plates normally take 10 minutes to cool after switching off and unplugging).
  7. Always inspect your styler before use. Pay particular attention to the condition of the cable and the plates.
  8. Not for use by children or people with a medical condition such as epilepsy, where an attack whilst operating the device might cause harm.
