So we want you to be able to try our straighteners on your own hair, at home and at your leisure for 14-days. 100% satisfaction guaranteed. But if for any reason you're not totally convinced, just let us know and we'll send you a pre-paid returns envelope and give you a complete no-quibble refund. All we ask is please keep the Irons and packaging in good condition during the trial.
What makes a ceramic hair straightener 'the best'?
Clients and customers often ask "does it have solid ceramic plates?" probably believing that it is this factor that makes one hair straightener better than another. But this is NOT correct - the BEST hair straighteners will have 'ceramic heating elements' and probably in combination with aluminium plates that are then coated in either ceramic or tourmaline and in DIOSA's case, also nano-silver. Solid ceramic plates are actually not good at all! In the FAQ's below, we explain why this is the case in more detail.
Ceramic Heating Elements or PTC Heaters?
When the original ghd model was released several years ago, the main reason people found it much better than all the other models available back then, was that the ghd straightener used ceramic elements to heat an aluminium plate.
A lot of the cheaper straighteners - both then and now - still use the inferior PTC heaters and then make claims about 'ceramic coating' or 'ceramic plates'.
PTC heaters are not able to produce the high negative ion output of a ceramic heater or heat as quickly. Ceramic elements also maintain an exact temperature much more easily and ceramic elements are more reliable.
DIOSA hair straighteners have the better, ceramic heating elements fitted.

Aluminium Coated Plates or 'Ceramic' Plates?
As mentioned before, the straighteners generally regarded as the best on the market, use aluminium coated plates in combination with ceramic heating elements. The aluminium heats up extremely fast and disperses the heat evenly and avoiding any hot-spots that could damage your hair.
Solid ceramic plates might sound like a good idea, but are absolutely not! Ceramic plates are relatively slow to heat and change temperature (creating hot-spots), plus they are extremely fragile and prone to damage.
DIOSA hair straighteners have the best combination of ceramic heaters and aluminium plates, the coating is enhanced with both tourmaline and nano-silver for high ionic output, far-infrared heat and healthy condition and shine. (top of page)
What are the benefits of Tourmaline?
Crushed tourmaline crystals are added to the coating of the plates on DIOSA hair irons. Tourmaline is a gemstone that when heated radiates the highest natural emission of negative ions and imparts infrared heat giving the shiniest, silkiest finish possible. It does this by helping to break down water molecules and locking condition into the hair, closing the hairs outer cuticle. It also heats more gently with far-infrared heat that works from inside the hair shaft, cutting down styling time dramatically. (top of page)
What is Nano-Silver?
Nano technology is revolutionising the health and beauty world! Scientists have known about silver's anti-bacterial properties for thousands of years (the Romans and Greeks even used to put Silver coins in drinking water to keep it safe!). And now the nano-silver added to the plates of DIOSA hair straighteners removes 99.9% of all micro-organisms on contact, thus improving hair and scalp condition and general cleanliness. As an added bonus, the nano-silver creates an invisible film on the plates which make them ultra-smooth, gliding effortlessly through hair without any pulling or snagging. (top of page)
Do I need Variable Temperature Control?
Yes you do! And with DIOSA irons you have a microprocessor controlled temperature adjustment between 80°C and 210°C.
Variable temperature has several benefits. Firstly, not all hair types are best styled at the maximum temperature of 210° - which is extremely hot. The maximum temperature is great if you have thick, course or naturally resilient hair in good condition. But for fine hair, perhaps bleached, chemically treated or fragile, just try dropping the temperature down to about 150° or less and with all those negative ions flying about, you'll still get perfect results! For normal hair in good condition around 180° is recommended, particularly if you use your straighteners most days of the week.
The second good reason for variable temperature control, is that it gives you much more freedom when styling. For example poker straight fringes don't always look so 'natural'. But lower the temperature to about 150° and you'll get a fringe that's straight and still has lovely volume to it.
If you think about it, fixed temperature Irons cannot possibly be suitable for all hair types, and most are set at the higher temperatures which can do the most damage if used on already delicate hair. (top of page) Warning!!! You might see some Irons advertised as having temperatures as high as 230°C and they might even suggest that this is a benefit - but be very wary indeed! It is possible to 'over-cook' your hair at such high temperatures! (As a example, the ghd Mk4 hair straighteners are fixed at a temperature of "around 180°C" - so if this highly regarded Iron only reaches around 180° there's probably a very good reason for it!)
What are negative ions and far-infrared heat?
Negative ions are the result of negatively charged oxygen and fine water particles in natural air being combined together. Negative ions attach to positively charged hair removing static, frizz and flyaway's and help seal and close the hairs cuticle locking in moisture to help retain condition, shine and a natural healthy balance.
Far-infrared heat, produced from the use of tourmaline and ceramic, heats from within the hair shaft, which causes much less chance of damaging the outer cuticle. Infrared heat also dries more quickly and just like negative ions, helps to close the hairs cuticle and lock in a beautiful shine and condition. (top of page)
How wide are the DIOSA Hair Stylers plates?
The DIOSA PH078 hair styler has plates that are 9cm long by 2.5cm wide. They are a 'floating plate' design, which means they clamp the hair evenly and easily. The coating of the plates has tourmaline and nano-silver added. The plates are ultra-smooth and glide through the hair with no pulling or snagging, mainly due to the nano-silver technology being used. (top of page)
What electrical voltage are DIOSA products?
DIOSA hair straighteners are designed for use on the UK and Europe's 220/240 volt electrical supplies. They are fitted with a UK Europlug, which means they have a standard 3-pin UK plug fitted, but if you travel or want to use the Irons in Europe, all you have to do is loosen one screw and it will reveal the European standard 2-pin plug. When you return back from your holidays, just pop on the UK plug again!
If you try to use the Irons in countries where the voltage is less than 220 volts (i.e. America's 110volts or parts of the Caribbean), you will not damage your hair styler, but it will not reach the correct operating temperature. (top of page)
How does the DIOSA guarantee work?
DIOSA hair stylers are manufactured to the highest standards and will no doubt provide you with excellent service when used in accordance with the instructions. The device is guaranteed against defective materials or workmanship for a period of 12-months. If the hair styler fails to operate, first check that it is plugged in correctly and switched on. For operation in the UK, please check to see if the 5amp fuse in the plug has failed. It must only be replaced with a British standard 5amp fuse. Please keep a dated receipt as proof-of-purchase. In the unlikely event that the product is found defective within the 12-months, please return the device in its original packaging to the original place of purchase. At the manufacturer’s sole discretion, DIOSA will then replace units faulty within 3-months or optionally repair up to 12-months. This warranty does not apply to devices showing abuse, damage, or to our judgement are not defective. Nor does it apply to devices which have not been operated in accordance with the instructions or have been tampered with or repaired other than by the manufacturer or its authorised agents.
Nothing in this guarantee excludes, restricts or otherwise affects your statutory rights. (top of page)
